IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine women's basketball has added junior college All-American Jaida Brooks to its 2024-25 incoming class head coach Tamara Inoue announced Tuesday.
 
"I am delighted to welcome Jaida to the UCI family," Inoue said. "Her dedication and passion are evident from the moment she steps onto the court. I am confident that our community will not only enjoy watching her play but also appreciate her as a person."
 
Brooks was named a 2023-24 NJCAA first-team All-American in her freshman season at Mesa Community College. She was also a first-team All-Region and All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference selection. Brooks led the Thunderbirds to a 28-7 record and a third-place finish at the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship. The 5-foot-6 point guard averaged 11.8 points on 41.7% shooting, while dishing out a team-best 139 assists (4.1 apg). She finished the season with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
Brooks attended PHH Prep in Phoenix, Arizona. As a senior, she registered 12.1 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. She also helped her squad to a 38-3 overall record as a junior, averaging 12.0 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals. Brooks signed with San Diego State out of high school but did not play for the Aztecs.
