Anteaters Complete Round 1 at Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team completed the first round of the 77th Western Intercollegiate Monday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
 
The Anteaters combined for a 6-count-5 total of 387 to sit in 14th place.
 
No. 9 Arizona was the only team to come in below par as the Wildcats lead the field at 2-under 348. Stanford, which is ranked 38th in the nation, is second at 354 (+4), while No. 8 Washington is one stroke behind the Cardinal in third.
 
The Huskies' Taehoon Song had the best round of the day with a 4-under 66.
 
Darien Zhao was UCI's top performer in the opening round, carding a 5-over 75. He birdied two of his last four holes and is tied for 63rd.
 
Jin Nakao had a team-best three birdies finishing with a 76 (+6) to tie for 70th. Rei Harashima is also tied for 74th (77).
 
Jason Tang (T86th), Yaoting Zou (T88th) and Joshua Lane (T90th) round out UC Irvine's lineup.
 
The 'Eaters return to Pasatiempo Golf Club tomorrow for the second round of the Western Intercollegiate.
