AZUSA, LA VERNE, & LONG BEACH, Calif. – More personal bests fall in the second day of the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa.
Malia Gay moves into the fifth position in the record books with her career high 2:08.79 finish in the 800m invite.
In the open segment of the 800m, sophomore
Makena Castillo dropped three seconds off her previous personal best with her 2:14.65 mark.
Both
Jazzmine Davis (3rd) and
Laura Sangiacomo (8th) placed top-10 in Group F of the heptathlon. Davis finished second in both the long jump (5.33m) and the 800m (2:26.49) which was also a season best. Sangiacomo has her best finish in the event of her career with her 4,253 points.
Over in La Verne at the Leopard Distance Carnival, freshman
Rebecca Bronstein made her first appearance in the 10000m, earning the third spot on the podium with a time of 36:08.71.
In the 1500m,
Elizabeth Melcher finished 13th in the event (5:06.34).
