Andar Highlights Action At Thursday Invitationals

AZUSA & LONG BEACH, Calif. – Several personal records were recorded to highlight the first day of the Bryan Clay Invitational Thursday night at Azusa Pacific's Cougar Stadium.

Junior Sameen Andar finished eighth in the 10,000 in a personal-best 33:07.48, the second-best mark in UCI history, just off Beth McGrann's school record 33.07.10.

Junior Jolie Robinson is in seventh place in Group B after the first day of the heptathlon with 3,176 points. On Thursday, she had a personal-best in three of the four events within the hepthalon, placing fourth in the shot put with a toss of 40-9, sixth in the 200m dash in a time of 25.27, 13th in the 100m-hurdles (14.73) and seventh in the high jump with a mark of 5-3.25.

In Group F, Jazzmine Davis is fourth with 2,774 points. She won the 200m dash in a time of 24.88 and finished third in the 100m hurdles (14.96), seventh in the shot put (33-8.75) and 12th in the high jump (4-6). Laura Sangiacomo is ninth with 2,635 points, highlighted by personal-bests in the shot put (38-1.5), high jump (4-9.5) and 200m dash (27.38). Chaselyn Amos is 12th with 2,437 points.

UCI also had a handful of good performances at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Long Beach.

Freshman Hallena Sutherland was second in the 100m dash with a PR 11.50, the second fastest mark in UCI history (all conditions). Sophomore Samantha Bartz also had a PR with a 13th place performance of 11.81, which ranks sixth all-time at UCI.  

In the 100m hurdles, bith Reyna Johnson (14.04) ad Kailah McKenzie (14.38) posted season-bests.

In field events, Deandra Tyler had a top 10 finish, placing eighth in the shot put with a toss of 49-2.5.
