UCI Drops to No. 5 Fresno State

Box Score LA JOLLA, Calif. – No. 6 UC Irvine dropped to No. 5 Fresno State, 11-4, in the morning game on day two of the Triton Invitational.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
  • First period: For the second game in a row, Kennedy East posted the first UC Irvine goal of the contest. Despite getting on the board, No. 5 Fresno State maintained the 3-1 advantage.

  • Second period: Defense from the Bulldogs shutout the Anteaters in the second period while adding three goals of their own to stretch the lead to 6-1 heading into the half.
  • Third period: No. 5 Fresno State continued to build on their offensive outing with two more goals, but a put in from Maja Layden halted the Bulldog momentum, 8-2.

  • Fourth period: The Bulldogs went on another 3-0 run to take control of the game, but Lauren Hett and Madi O'Hara continued to fight through the for UCI to convert on the offensive end. The two late goals were not enough as Fresno State took the 11-4 victory.
