Sameen Andar and
Reyna Johnson broke their own school records to highlight the UC Irvine women's track & field team's first day of the MPSF Indoor Championships Sunday at The Podium.

Johnson became the Anteaters' first MPSF champion with an individual victory in the long jump. After fouling on her first two attempts, Johnson came up big with a lifetime-best 5.97 meters (19-7) on her third attempt, moving her to the top of the leaderboard. That mark stood as the best of the competition through the finals. It was her second win and third time she set a program record in the long jump this season.

Andar was the runner-up in the 5000-meter with a time of 16:31.81, shaving nearly six seconds off her previous standard that she set at last year's MPSF Championship meet.

Alexis Alexander and junior
Malia Gay combined to run the second-fastest distance medley relay in program history. The quartet clocked in at 11:47.99 to claim runner-up honors.

Jolie Robinson added a podium finish in the pentathlon where she was third with a lifetime-best 3,660 points. Robinson improved on her No. 3 mark in program history. She was the top performer in the long jump at 5.82 meters (19-1.25) and established personal-records of 8.92 in the 60m hurdles and 11.67m (38-3.5) in the shot put. Junior
Jazzmine Davis also scored in the pentathlon with an eighth-place showing.

In the weight throw, senior
Deandra Tyler was fourth as she unleashed a personal-record 17.58m (57-8.25). Tyler moved up one spot to No. 3 on UCI's all-time charts. Sophomore
DeAna Davis also notched a PR 15.18m (49-9.75), which ranks seventh in school history.

Freshman
Kailah McKenzie scored with top-eight finishes in both the high jump (5th, 1.63m) and long jump (8th, 5.65m). She also ran a personal-best 8.74 in the 60m hurdle prelims to take over sole possession of No. 8 in the Anteater record books.

Freshman
Hallena Sutherland led the 'Eaters in the sprints. She finished seventh in the 60m prelims to secure a spot in tomorrow's final. Sutherland established a personal-record 7.56, which ranks second among UC Irvine's all-time leaders. She also came in just outside of scoring position in the 200m, placing ninth overall with UCI's third-fastest time at 24.51.

Senior
Aryel Coats also crossed the finish line in an indoor 200m lifetime-best 24.81 to move up to No. 4 in school history. Coats added a season-best 7.90 in the 60m.

Jazzmine Davis and
Reyna Johnson both qualified for the 60m hurdle final. In the prelims, Davis was fifth (8.59), while Johnson was eighth (8.73).
