IRVINE, Calif. – No. 5 UC Irvine hit a season-high .494 in a 3-0 victory over neighbor Concordia (25-22, 25-22, 25-21) at Crawford Hall Friday night.

UCI hit .494 (46-8-77), the ninth best percentage by a Big West team this season. The Anteaters went errorless in the second set, hitting .682 (15-0-22).

The Anteaters win their third straight match and improve to 9-4 overall. Concordia, who are receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll, goes to 5-4 on the year.

UCI was led by Hilir Henno with 12 kills, hitting .474. He also had an ace and three digs.

William D'Arcy posted a career-high 11 kills, hitting at a .409 clip (11-2-22). He totaled eight digs, three blocks and an ace.

Outside hitter Akhil Tangutur pounded a season-best nine kills at a blistering .667 mark (9-1-12). The grad student totaled five digs and two blocks in the win.

>Setter Brett Sheward guided UCI to its second match of over .400 hitting this seaosn. He recorded 40 kills, three digs and three blocks

FIRST SET
>UCI went on a 5-1 run to go up 10-6 that included kills by Akhil Tangutur, William D'Arcy and Maxim Grigoriev and a triple block that included the trio
>Concordia closed to 14-13 before a pair of D'Arcy kills and a Golden Eagle attack error pushed the margin to 17-13
>CUI made it interesting with a kill (22-21), but UCI answered on a Concordia service error and block by Connor Campbell and D'Arcy for set point 24-21
>A UCI service error delayed the set winner that came from D'Arcy, 25-22

SECOND SET
>A block by Grigoriev and Brett Sheward was followed by an ace by D'Arcy to move UCI out to an 8-4 lead
>Three consecutive kills, one by Tangutur and two by Hilir Henno increased the lead to 11-5
>A 5-0 spurt started with a Henno kill and capped with Campbell and Sheward block, 16-6
>The Anteaters didn't commit an attack error in the set, cruising to a 25-11 win. The Anteaters hit .682 (15-0-22)

THIRD SET
>Two Concordia miscues plus a D'Arcy kill and an ace by Grigoriev helped the Anteaters to a 4-1 lead
>Two kills by Henno and one by D'Arcy made it 7-2
>Scappy defense kept UCI in the point until Sheward could feed Henno from the backrow for a kill, 12-10
>The teams remained close with back-to-back kills from the middle from Campbell and Grigoriev, 22-18
>Campbell would end the match with a smash from the middle, 25-21
