IRVINE, Calif. – No. 5 UC Irvine hit a season-high .494 in a 3-0 victory over neighbor Concordia (25-22, 25-22, 25-21) at Crawford Hall Friday night.
UCI hit .494 (46-8-77), the ninth best percentage by a Big West team this season. The Anteaters went errorless in the second set, hitting .682 (15-0-22).
The Anteaters win their third straight match and improve to 9-4 overall. Concordia, who are receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll, goes to 5-4 on the year.
UCI was led by
Hilir Henno with 12 kills, hitting .474. He also had an ace and three digs.
William D'Arcy posted a career-high 11 kills, hitting at a .409 clip (11-2-22). He totaled eight digs, three blocks and an ace.
Outside hitter
Akhil Tangutur pounded a season-best nine kills at a blistering .667 mark (9-1-12). The grad student totaled five digs and two blocks in the win.
