
Anteaters Continue to Post Top Marks at Riverfront Invitational

SPOKANE, Wash. -Β Junior Reyna Johnson bettered her own school record in the long jump to highlight an impressive day for the UC Irvine women's indoor track & field team at the Riverfront Invitational & Multis Friday at The Podium.

Johnson, who broke the school record in the long jump at the same venue on Jan. 13, improved her standard with a leap of 5.93 meters (19-5.5). Freshman Kailah McKenzie also established a personal-best 5.80m (19-0.5), which ranks third on UCI's all-time charts. McKenzie joined Johnson and fellow teammate Jolie Robinson as the only Anteaters to surpass 19 feet in indoor program history. Johnson and McKenzie were third and fifth, respectively, in a field of 42 athletes.

On the track, freshman Hallena Sutherland was 19th out of 102Β in the 200m. She came in at 24.85 seconds which ranks third in program history. Senior Aryel Coats (25.44) and sophomore Samantha Bartz (25.57) also had season bests, while senior Mia Marquez registered a PR of 25.50.

Junior Malia Gay clocked a personal-record 2:13.82 to place fourth in a field of 59 runners in the 800m. She moved up four spots to No. 5 among UC Irvine's all-time leaders. Freshman Kaia Schmidt also cracked the top-10, coming in at No. 7 with a time of 2:14.38 in her collegiate 800m debut. Junior Montgomery Allison added a lifetime-best 2:19.09, and sophomore Reina Kabbara notched a season-best 2:23.56.
