Trio of Anteaters Shoot Below Par in Final Round of Ka'anapali Classic

LAHAINA, Maui – A trio of UC Irvine golfers posted sub-70 rounds to close out the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational held at the Royal Ka'anapali Course.

The Anteaters moved up two spots to 16th after their best round of the tournament with a score of 275 Monday, and totaled a three-day score of 845 (286-284-275).

Second-ranked Oklahoma took home the team title with a 42 under par 810 (264-273-273) led by medalist Jaxon Dowell with a score of 196 (63-66-67).

Rei Harashima led UCI with a 54-hole total of 207 (69-71-67), finishing in a tie for 29th place. The junior tied his season-low carding a four-under par 67 with five birdies, including three on the back nine. It is Harashima's sixth sub-70 score of the season.

JJ Nakao fired a season-best final round of 66 with five birdies and an eagle on the Par 5 fifth hole. He climbed 29 spots to finish in a tie for 35th with a score of 208 (74-68-66).

Jack Yu had a team-best six birdies on Monday and rounded out the trio under par with a score of 69. Yu finished in a tie for 88th with a three-round total of 216 (76-71-69).

Jason Tang was tied for 106th place with a score of 219 (69-77-73), while Owen Davis-Piger was 116th with a total of 223 (74-74-75).

This concludes the fall portion of the schedule. The 'Eaters will kick off the 2025 spring season by hosting the OC Collegiate Classic at Coto de Caza South Course, Feb. 10-11.
