IRVINE, Calif. --- Anteater baseball returns this Spring following an NCAA Regional season in 2024, and its 2025 slate sets head coach
Ben Orloff's squad up for another deep postseason run.

The season opens with a massive weekend in Arizona for the 2025 MLB Desert Invitational. The sixth year of this tournament has featured teams to play in NCAA Regionals and the College World Series along with top MLB Draft prospects among them. The field and game details have yet to be revealed, but includes teams from the SEC, Big Ten, BIG EAST, and multiple conference champions.
UC Irvine's first home game is against a school new to the Big Ten, USC, on a Tuesday night, February 18. The 'Eaters play 10 total midweek matchups with four more at Cicerone Field against Utah Tech, San Diego, LMU, and their final midweek contest, April 22 vs. UCLA
UCI's second weekend series of the year sends them to a formidable Big XII foe, Texas Tech. UCI plays the Red Raiders for the first time since 2005 while making its first trip to Rip Griffin Park, a place that's hosted eight Regionals and five Super Regionals.
The first weekend series for the Anteaters starts February 28 and goes into March against the champions of the Sun Belt Conference, Louisiana. The 'Eaters began the 2022 season in Lafayette against the Rajun' Cajuns and host them in the return trip this time around.
The 2025 season features a first in Big West history - a postseason championship. The top five teams in the standings will head to Goodwin Field for the Big West Championship from May 21-25. Fourth and fifth place will play an elimination game with the winner advancing to Thursday to play the regular season champions and begin a four-team, regional-style tournament.
The new championship puts one less week in the Anteater schedule and starts Big West play on March 7. The opening Big West series goes down at Anteater Ballpark with Black & Blue Rival, Long Beach State. Other Big West opponents coming to Cicerone Field this year including UC Riverside, Easter Weekend vs. Hawai'i, UC San Diego, and the regular season finale vs. Cal State Fullerton. The 'Eaters make Big West trips to CSUN, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, Cal Poly, and Mother's Day weekend at Cal State Bakersfield.
One Big West matchup stands out from the rest with a midweek, non-conference meeting with Cal State Fullerton. The teams are scheduled to meet on April 29 in Angel Stadium.
The gap in the conference agenda comes April 4-6 with a trip to UCI's most familiar foe, Oregon State, with a trip back to Corvallis and the site of the 2024 Regional that featured the programs and the fourth season in the last five years featuring a series with UC Irvine and the Beavers.
All Anteater home games will also be broadcast via ESPN+ and simulcast on KUCI 88.9 for radio and kuci.org.
