Anteaters Head to Corvallis for Oregon State Invitational

Location: Trysting Tree Golf Club - Corvallis, Ore.
Par/Yardage: Par-71, 7,384 yards
IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team will open its 2024-25 season at the Oregon State Invitational, Oct. 7-8.
The two-day tournament will be held at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis with the par-71 course being played at 7,384 yards. Action begins with 36 holes on Monday starting at 8:15 a.m., while the final round is slated for 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Both days will have a shotgun start. The Anteaters are part of a 12-team field that also features Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, Gonzaga, High Point, Idaho, Kansas City, Seattle U, Tarleton State, Utah Valley, Washington State and host Oregon State.
UCI's 5-count-4 lineup includes Rei Harashima, JJ Nakao, Jason Tang, Owen Davis-Piger and Jack Yu.

Junior Rei Harashima is a two-time All-Big West selection, earning second team honors in 2023-24 and honorable mention recognition in 2022-23. Last year, he finished third at the Big West Championships at 9-under 207 (68-68-71). He closed out the campaign ranked third on the squad with a 73.00 stroke average.
SECOND TIME AROUND
Jason Tang is coming off a phenomenal freshman campaign. He played in every tournament and was second on the team with a 72.97 average. Tang had three top-20 showings, highlighted by a sixth-place finish at the season-opening Nick Watney Invitational where he carded a 10-under 203 (65-68-73). He closed out the year with five sub-70 rounds.
ADDING DEPTH
UC Irvine also brings back juniors Yaoting Zou and JJ Nakao, and seniors Kevin McGough and Joshua Lane. Zou played in eight tournaments last year, ranking fourth on the squad with a 73.25 average. He had a career-best sixth-place finish at the 2024 Vanharte Orange County Collegiate Classic where he fired a second-round 65. Nakao, who has dealt with injuries since his arrival at UCI, has seven sub-70 rounds in his last two seasons.
ENTERING THE MIX
Owen Davis-Piger was a three-time Oregon State 6A High School Championships qualifier at South Eugene High School. This summer, he finished fifth at the 72nd Oregon Men's Stroke Play Championship. Tommy Lin comes to UCI from Guangzhou, China. He is currently in Japan representing Hong Kong at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship. Jack Yu (TaoYuan City, Taiwan) has a handful of tournament victories under his belt, winning the 2023 World Stars Championship, FCG International Junior Championship and FCG Collegiate National Championship.
