FROM HEAD COACH RUSSELL TURNER
"Tonight was not so much about winning, but it is great that we won. We needed to go through some tough experiences tonight. Everybody got a chance to check in the game and got a sense for the competitive level that is going to be expected when we play at home. We got a great look at Vanguard. They came in here and competed hard. They were more competitive and more physical than we were during stretches of the game and that exposed some of what we need to correct about the way we have been practicing. I think we are going to be able to continue to define roles and be able to play better together than we did tonight, but it was a good night to get everybody out there to see the things we've been waiting to see."
"I thought Jurian (Dixon) was especially good tonight. He was ready. Dixon played with force tonight, explosive, and looked like he could get to the rim and finish. We didn't have a lot of guys who looked like they could do that tonight. Myles (Che) is going to continue to improve. He came into a tough role trying to be the point guard and tone setter in a team of veteran guys. It is hard to adjust and adapt into a role like that, but we can all see his talent and he is going to continue to get better as he learns from the experiences he gets and expectations we have."
FROM JURIAN DIXON
"I was excited to be out there. I know a lot of people are aware that I redshirted last year where I did a lot of watching and a lot of learning, so this year I just want to try and put it all together. It was a lot of fun. During the offseason, I worked on my body a lot, mindset, and my visual game were the main things I did to try and adapt more at this level."
