IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team will play its third tournament in as many weeks when it heads to Seaside, California, for the Leadership & Golf Collegiate Championship, Oct. 21-23. The par-72 Bayonet Golf Course will be played at 7,044 yards. Eighteen holes are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with tee times starting at 8:20 a.m.
The Anteaters are part of a 14-team field that also features BYU, California Baptist, Illinois State, LMU, Nevada, Pacific, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's (co-host), Sam Houston State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle U (co-host) and UC Santa Barbara.
UCI's 5-count-4 lineup includes Rei Harashima, JJ Nakao, Jason Tang, Jack Yu and Tommy Lin.

• UC Irvine won its season-opening tournament with a two-stroke victory at the Oregon State Invitational (Oct. 7-8).

LAST TIME OUT
Rei Harashima had a top-10 finish to lead UC Irvine at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, Oct. 14-16. Harashima carded three-straight sub-70 rounds to tie for eighth at 7-under (69-68-69). Jack Yu matched his season-best at 3-under 68 in the final round to climb 21 spots into a tie for 36th with a 54-hole score of 214 (75-71-68). Jason Tang tied for 47th (71-72-74), while JJ Nakao (69-76-73) was one stroke back in a tie for 57th. Owen Davis-Piger also tied for 78th (78-74-72).
SETTING THE TONE
Junior Rei Harashima has recorded four sub-70 scores through the first two tournaments of the season. He is coming off an eighth-place showing at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational where he carded a 7-under 206 (69-68-69). Harashima also fired a season-best 67 in the second round of a top-20 performance at the Oregon State Invitational. The two-time All-Big West selection currently leads the Anteaters with a 70.17 stroke average through six rounds.
SEASON-OPENING WIN
UC Irvine won its season-opening tournament, finishing first in a 12-team field at the Oregon State Invitational at Trysting Tree Golf Club, Oct. 7-8. UCI came from behind to defeat the host Beavers by two strokes. It was the Anteaters' first stroke play tournament victory since winning the Big West Championship in 2018. The 'Eaters also won the Cal Poly Match Play Tournament in 2019. JJ Nakao led UC Irvine at 2-under 211 for a career-best fourth-place showing. Jason Tang tied for 12th with an even-par 213, while Jack Yu (75-68-72) and Rei Harashima (74-67-74) tied for 17th at 2-over.
GOING LOW
The Anteaters have come in below par in each of their first two tournaments. Three players have combined for seven sub-70 scores, led by four from Harashima. Freshman Jack Yu also put up a 68 at both the Oregon State Invitational and Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, while junior JJ Nakao opened the latter tournament with a 69.
