JJ Nakao carded a sub-70 score to lead the UC Irvine men's golf team in the first round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Monday at Stockton Golf & Country Club.

As a team, the Anteaters sit in eighth as they combined for a 5-count-4 total of 284 (E). San Diego holds the early lead at 12-under.

Nakao and Harashima each fired four birdies to come in at 2-under 69. They are tied for 11th and are only three strokes behind a trio of first-round leaders in You Choi (USD), Jaden Cantafio (USD) and Travis Robbie (Pacific). Nakao has finished below par in three of his four rounds, while Harashima has two sub-70 scores so far this season.

Jason Tang recorded an even-par 71 to tie for 33rd, while freshmen
Jack Yu (75) and
Owen Davis-Piger (78) rounded out UCI's lineup.
