IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team heads to the Central Valley for the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, Oct. 14-16. The three-day tournament will be held at Stockton Golf & Country Club with the par-71 course being played at 6,566 yards. Eighteen holes are slated for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with tee times starting at 7:45 a.m. The Anteaters are part of a 15-team field that also features Cal, California Baptist, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Nevada, Sacramento State, San Diego, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, Utah Tech, Washington State and host Pacific.
UCI's 5-count-4 lineup includes Rei Harashima, JJ Nakao, Jason Tang, Owen Davis-Piger and Jack Yu.
The 'Eaters have competed in the last seven Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational tournaments. During that stretch, they had a high finish of second (tied) in 2022.

UC Irvine won its season-opening tournament, finishing first in a 12-team field at the Oregon State Invitational at Trysting Tree Golf Club, Oct. 7-8. UCI came from behind to defeat the host Beavers by two strokes. It was the Anteaters' first stroke play tournament victory since winning the Big West Championship in 2018. The 'Eaters also won the Cal Poly Match Play Tournament in 2019. JJ Nakao led UC Irvine at 2-under 211 for a career-best fourth-place showing. Jason Tang tied for 12th with an even-par 213, while Jack Yu (75-68-72) and Rei Harashima (74-67-74) tied for 17th at 2-over 215. Owen Davis Piger rounded out UCI's 5-count-4 lineup with a 216 (73-73-70).
READY TO ROLL
Junior Rei Harashima is a two-time All-Big West selection, earning second team honors in 2023-24, and honorable mention recognition in 2022-23. Last year, he finished third at the Big West Championships at 9-under 207 (68-68-71). Sophomore Jason Tang is also coming off a phenomenal freshman campaign. He played in every tournament and was second on the team with a 72.97 average last year. Tang has four career top-20 showings and five sub-70 rounds.
ADDING DEPTH
UC Irvine also brings back juniors JJ Nakao and Yaoting Zou, along with seniors Kevin McGough and Joshua Lane. Zou played in eight tournaments last year, ranking fourth on the squad with a 73.25 average. Nakao, who has dealt with injuries since his arrival at UCI, has seven sub-70 rounds in his last two seasons.
ENTERING THE MIX
Owen Davis-Piger was a three-time Oregon State 6A High School Championships qualifier at South Eugene High School. This past summer, he finished fifth at the 72nd Oregon Men's Stroke Play Championship. Tommy Lin comes to UCI from Guangzhou, China. He recently traveled to Japan to represent Hong Kong at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship. Jack Yu (TaoYuan City, Taiwan) has a handful of tournament victories under his belt, winning the 2023 World Stars Championship, FCG International Junior Championship and FCG Collegiate National Championship.
