IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine outside hitter
Hilir Henno started his junior campaign as the first Big West Offensive Player of the Week.
Henno made history twice from the service line last week. With two aces against George Mason and two more versus Saint Francis, Henno became the Big West career leader for aces bettering Ryan Wilcox's record of 135 from (2019-23).
Versus then No. 15 Princeton, he tied the UCI and Big West record for aces in a match with nine the four- set victory. The nine aces are also tied for second most in the country this season.
He started the week with a double-double against George Mason with 17 kills and 11 digs then hit .429 against the Red Flash with 16 kills. He rounded out the week with 11 kills versus the Tigers.
The outside hitter averaged 3.67 kills, 5.17 points, 1.08 aces, 1.50 digs and 0.67 blocks for the week.
The junior is currently second in the nation in aces per set with 1.083 and sixth in points per set at 5.17. He is second among active Division I players and fifth over all divisions with 145 career aces.
This is his fourth career offensive weekly league honor.
