IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's basketball team has finalized its 2023-24 non-conference schedule.
Â
For the first time since 2014-15, the Anteaters will be on the road to start the campaign as they head to Pepperdine for their season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
Â
UCI returns to the Bren Events Center for its home opener against Seattle U on Saturday, Nov. 11. The 'Eaters will be looking to make it five in a row against the Redhawks after a 54-53 comeback victory in Seattle last year.
Â
UC Irvine is back on the road with a trip to Northern California for a single game at Saint Mary's (Nov. 14), before a home contest against Eastern Washington on Monday, Nov. 20.
Â
This year, the Anteaters will be in Stockton for Thanksgiving as they are slated to take on St. Thomas (Nov. 24) and host Pacific (Nov. 25) in the Tiger Turkey Tip-Off. They then make their first out-of-state trip, heading to Lubbock to square off against Big 12 foe Texas Tech. The Red Raiders advanced to the third round of the 2023 WNIT.
Â
The 'Eaters will make a quick stop at the Bren to host Denver on Saturday, Dec. 2, prior to a visit to Las Cruces, N.M., for a showdown at Conference USA member New Mexico State on Dec. 5. UCI has strong ties to NM State as head coach
Tamara Inoue and associate head coach
Cecilia Russell-Nava were both on the Aggies' staff before coming to UC Irvine in 2016. Russell-Nava and assistant coach
Tyler Ellis are also New Mexico State alums.
Â
The Anteaters close out their non-conference slate in Long Beach where they will face 2023 WNIT participant Colorado State in a neutral-site game at the Walter Pyramid on Dec. 16.
