· The Anteaters are off and running unbeaten in their first four for the best start to a season under coach Raz. The program last started the season unbeaten in four or more was 2014 when UCI won their first four and were 8-0-2 through the first 10.
· The Anteaters welcome in the nation's No. 1 team Friday in Stanford. No. 1 has visited UCI twice before, both escaping with overtime wins. This will be the fifth matchup with a No. 1 with the last one in 2014 when UCI toppled No. 1 Stanford in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Michael Sperber's OT winner
· The week began on the road with a comeback win ending a drought that spanned 47 matches dating back to 2014; the last time UCI won a match they had trailed heading into the half with help from
Isaac Powell's first career goal and point
·Â
Jake Means had a busy week scoring in each match starting with his first career game-winner at Omaha and adding his first penalty Sunday to seal the 3-1 win
·Â
Luke Pruter celebrated a birthday Sunday with a win over Gonzaga and also became the 12th Anteater in program history to collect 100 career saves
·Â
Mauricio Gutierrez made his debut and scored his first career point all in one week. His Sunday game-winner helped him claim Big West Freshman of the Week
Friday vs. the Cardinal
· Stanford comes to Anteater Stadium for the first time since 2012. They've won 11 of the 12 all-time meetings including the two at UCI, but the 'Eaters got them in 2014 when they were the No. 1 team in the nation scoring an overtime win in the NCAA Second Round on a Michael Sperber goal. Stanford has won the three times since including a grudge match in the 2018 tournament second round
· The Cardinal again are the nation's No. 1 team after starting the year at No. 7 and beating No. 8 Creighton, No. 17 Georgetown, and SJSU with relative ease. Preseason All-Pac-12 Shane de Flores has at least two points in each match thus far while sophomore Zach Bohane had seven points in the opening week to win National Player of the Week.
Monday vs. the Gaels
· The Gaels are 2-1-1 to begin 2023 with SJSU to play Friday before they leave the roost for the first time to play at UCI. Saint Mary's has had the series advantage going 9-3-1 with a 4-1 record at Anteater Stadium including a 3-1 win here last season.
· Saint Mary's has five straight winning seasons that included an unbeaten 2018. Big names includes WCC Preseason standouts Riley Lynch, already with seven points, and captain Louis Sterobo, and Tyler Hardin, a goalscorer vs. UCI with three so far this year
