>UC Irvine enters the week ranked 12th in the CWPA Preseason Poll, dropping three spots after a week off of action
>UCI is slated 11th in the new Association of College Water Polo Coaches poll
>Redshirt sophomore Samuel Otta was named the Big West Player of the Week on Sept. 13 for his seven goals, seven assists, four drawn exclusions, nine steals, three field blocks, and two sprint wins in a 2-1 week for UC Irvine
>This is the program's first Big West weekly honor in their inaugural year in the league as well as the redshirt sophomore's first career honor
>The Anteaters will play in the Overnght/MPSF Invitiational this weekend in Los Angeles and are paired in Group A with No. 1/1 California, No. 11/10 Long Beach State, and Whittier
>UCI is set to face No. 11/10 Long Beach State in the first match up of the weekend
>The Beach enters the weekend with an 8-2 overall record, picking up wins over Long Beach City College (25-3) and Biola (18-9) over the weekend while suffering an overtime defeat (11-10) at UC San Diego
>The Anteaters will then face either No. 1/1 California or Whittier in the second game of the weekend depending on the outcome of the game with No. 11/10 Long Beach State
>UCI will play in two more games over the weekend with times and opponents to be announced

>UC Irvine went 2-0 at the Inland Empire with wins over Whittier (21-2) and Redlands (14-9)
>The Anteaters had their home opener against No. 3 USC, where they fell 12-10 in a thrilling match to the Trojans
> UCI outscored their opponents 45-23 over the weekend
>The 'Eaters also shot at a 0.500 clip (45-90) compared to their opponents 0.295 (23-78) shot percentage
>Freshman Gage Verdegaal had two hat-tricks on the weekend, the first against Whittier and then the next versus No. 3 USC
>Junior's Archer Sauer and Tyler Padua also notched hat-tricks over the weekend which is a season high in goals for both players
>Otta has extended his scoring streak to seven games while Stewart Campbell moves to five straight
>Luka Krstic leads the conference in sprint wins with 11
>Jacob Pyle recorded 17 saves in two games of action
>Garrett Selby earned his first win of the season over the weekend with a perfect save percentage (1.000, six saves)
