Otta's Six Goals Pace UC Irvine To Season Opening Victory

Box Score LA JOLLA, Calif. – Redshirt sophomore Samuel Otta's six goal performance paced the Anteaters to a 18-10 victory over No. 17 California Baptist in their season opening game at the Triton Invitational.

Otta had two goals in the first period, one in the third, and scored a trio in the final stanza.

  • Jacob Pyle made the start in the cage and played all 32 minutes
  • Freshman Gage Verdegaal helped with the scoring effort, notching his first collegiate hat-trick behind his four goals
  • Five of the seven Anteaters who scored in the contest had multi-goal games

  • UCI only committed eight exclusions in the contest to California Baptist's 14
  • Four newcomers made their Anteater debut in the victory
