RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Juniors
Anna Vogtmann and
Sameen Andar both placed among the top-10 to lead the UC Irvine women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish in the UC Riverside Invitational 6K Saturday at UCR Ag/Ops Course.

Vogtmann completed the 6K course in 20:19.0 for a career-best third-place showing in a large field of 172 athletes. She came in behind only two runners from Utah Valley.

Andar, who was making her season debut, was four seconds behind Vogtmann, clocking in at 20:23.0 to take sixth overall.

Freshman
Kaia Schmidt continued to impress early in her collegiate career as she was the Anteaters' No. 3 runner in 42nd. Schmidt registered a time of 21:31.9. Sophomore
Makena Castillo was right on her heels in 43rd with a personal-record 21:32.3.

Rounding out UCI's top-seven were junior
Malia Gay (21:41.8), junior
Montgomery Allison (21:59.9) and freshman
Rebecca Bronstein (22:08.8).

UC Irvine had eight individuals entered in the women's 5K Open. As a team, they took fifth out of 21.

Hana Nip paced the group in 22nd, crossing the finish line in 18:35.1. Junior
Diane Molina was also 29th with a time of 18:46.3.

Malia Leupold clocked in at 18:58.6, and junior
Laura Yontz notched a personal-record 19:00.4.
