IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's basketball team is set to compete in the 42nd William Jones Cup, an official FIBA event, in Taiwan from Aug. 12-20.

During their time in Taipei City, the Anteaters are slated to play eight games in a nine-day span facing the likes of Qatar (Aug. 12), United Arab Emirates (Aug. 13), Japan (Aug. 14), Korea (Aug. 15), Chinese Taipei-B (Aug. 16), Iran (Aug. 18), Chinese Taipei-A (Aug. 19), and The Philippines (Aug. 20).

"It is a great honor for UC Irvine to be invited to the William Jones Cup in Taipei City," remarked head coach Russell Turner. "This is an incredible, competitive opportunity for our program and an even better one culturally and educationally to travel to Taiwan to learn about a rich culture and history. I attended the Jones Cup myself 27 years ago, so I know how incredible this opportunity is for our players. We're thankful and excited for the opportunity to be in Taiwan competing in the Jones Cup."

This is UCI men's basketball's second foreign tour under Turner as the Anteaters ventured to South Korea in August 2018 prior to the program's historic NCAA tournament victory, Big West championship, and 31-win season.

Fans can follow the team on Facebook (/ucimbb), Instagram (@ucimbb), and Twitter (@ucimbb) for a behind-the-scenes look at the trip. There will also be game updates and a players' blog that will be updated on ucirvinesports.com.
