FROM HEAD COACH RUSSELL TURNER
"This was a challenge for us. A fifth game in five days, so I challenged my team for their physical toughness, their mental toughness, and their commitment to playing each possession at a high level. We did that tonight, so I am proud of my team and grateful for the opportunity we have to be here."

UC Irvine struck first, scoring the first basket of the game before it became a battle between both teams. The Anteaters led by six at the media timeout and won the quarter by five (32-27). Guard Derin Saran had eight points and three rebounds while center Bent Leuchten had six points and two rebounds.

The Anteaters offense gained wind in the second period courtesy of Hohn. UCI's defensive intensity picked up as well as they did not allow their opponent to score for almost seven minutes. Leuchten added five more points to his total along with five boards. UC Irvine outscored the Chinese Taipei by 21 points to lead at the half, 61-35.

Offensive momentum did not slow down as UCI scored 30 points in the third quarter and saw eight different players contribute. Dylan Thoerner carried the three-ball game after the half, nailing two in six minutes of action. Guard Jurian Dixon also hit a three-pointer off the quick flick from Ofure Ujadughele.

In the fourth quarter, the Anteaters shot at a 0.750 clip (12-16) from the floor. Hayden Welling and Eli Chol had strong offensive showings in the final stanza scoring eight and six points, respectively. Chol hustled on the defensive end, swatting down five of Chinese Taipei B team's attempts at the hoop.
