IRVINE, Calif. -- Former UC Irvine All-American and national champion David Smith was named to the Volleyball Nation's League Dream Team as the U.S. Men's National Team took home the silver medal for the second straight year.

The U.S. lost to host Poland 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 25-18, 25-18) in Gdansk, Poland on Sunday.

Smith, who was named Best Blocker, ended the match with six points on six kills, hitting .546.

The U.S. Men climbed to No. 2 in the world after finishing the 2023 VNL with a 12-3 record. They started the VNL preliminary round ranked sixth.
