IRVINE, Calif. - For the second year in a row, Liam Miksic will represent UC Irvine men's track & field at the NCAA West Preliminary Round. Miksic qualified for the regional meet in the javelin and will be in action Wednesday, May 24, at 1:30 p.m.

Miksic is seeded 37th and is set to compete in the first of three flights. The top-12 finishers in the event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 7-10, in Austin, Texas.

• Miksic won three of his four javelin competitions this season.
• Two weeks ago, he became UC Irvine's first Big West men's javelin champion.
• He entered the sixth and final round in second before unleashing a season-best 64.23m (210-8) to win the event.
• Earlier this year, he added individual victories at the Vince O'Boyle Classic and Steve Scott Invitational.
• He is seeded 37th heading into Wednesday's NCAA West Preliminary Round.
• In 2022, Miksic threw for a personal-record 65.81m (215-11) in a 17th-place showing at the NCAA West Prelims.
• His PR ranks second in school history (since 1986).
• Miksic was also an All-Big West performer as a true freshman, coming in third at the 2022 conference championships.
 
UP NEXT
The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are slated for June 7-10 in Austin, Texas. The championship field will be comprised of the top-12 finishers in each event at the two regional meets this week.
