Powerful Fourth Period Offensive Propelled UCI Over Brown, 13-6

IRVINE, Calif.— A powerful fourth period offensive effort propelled UC Irvine (13-6) to a 13-6 victory over No. 21 Brown (18-6) on Wednesday evening.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

>UCI went was able to capitalize on four powerplays (4-5, 0.800)
>Erin Tharp blocked 11 shots in 32 minutes in the cage for a 0.647 save percentage

FIRST PERIOD
>Kennedy East placed the ball into the cage at 5:32, knocking it in off the post on the one-player advantage, 1-0
>A skip off the water gave Brown their first goal of the contest at 5:07 before Brooke Banta found Nioka Thomas (4:47) open in front of the cage to keep the Anteater lead, 2-1
>UCI turned the ball over which led to the Bears tying point, 2-2 (2:48)
 
SECOND PERIOD
>Kili Skibby was credited with the takeaway and set up the offensive possession. Sabina Shackelford handed the ball off to Airian Grisham for the shot as time was expiring, 3-2
>The game saw a second tie at 5:24 when Brown's Claire Pisani found the back of the cage, 3-3
>A Brown exclusion allowed Banta (4:55) to break the dead lock, 4-3
