IRVINE, Calif.— A powerful fourth period offensive effort propelled UC Irvine (13-6) to a 13-6 victory over No. 21 Brown (18-6) on Wednesday evening.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

FIRST PERIOD
>Kennedy East placed the ball into the cage at 5:32, knocking it in off the post on the one-player advantage, 1-0
>A skip off the water gave Brown their first goal of the contest at 5:07 before Brooke Banta found Nioka Thomas (4:47) open in front of the cage to keep the Anteater lead, 2-1
>UCI turned the ball over which led to the Bears tying point, 2-2 (2:48)
 
SECOND PERIOD
>Kili Skibby was credited with the takeaway and set up the offensive possession. Sabina Shackelford handed the ball off to Airian Grisham for the shot as time was expiring, 3-2
>The game saw a second tie at 5:24 when Brown's Claire Pisani found the back of the cage, 3-3
>A Brown exclusion allowed Banta (4:55) to break the dead lock, 4-3
>UCI was given an extra possession as the Bears committed an offensive foul. East dished to Gabby Norris who placed the ball past the outstretched arms of the Brown goalkeeper, 5-3 (0:37)
>The Bears brought it back within one with four ticks left on the clock, 5-4

THIRD PERIOD
>Brown knotted the game for the third time at 4:21 on the power play opportunity, 5-5 (4:21)
>The Anteaters scored on two consecutive possessions, Nioka Thomas fired the ball at 2:44 and Libby Alexander (2:06) faking out the goalkeeper on the one-on-one, 7-5
>Both teams would add tallies to their column off 6-on-5's, Brown scoring first at 0:54 and Gracie Helberg answering at 0:32, 8-6

FOURTH PERIOD
>A shot with flair from Elena Flynn (7:01) stunned the Bears defense as the ball entered the cage while they all starred, 9-6
>Skibby (6:13, 4:14) beat the goalie twice for the next two Anteater goals, 11-6
>Norris passed the ball off to Michaela Strickland, continuing the 5-0 Anteater run at 3:21, 12-6
>Alexandra Mould lofted one over the head of the Brown keeper for the final goal of the game, 13-6 (2:13)
