SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team had some impressive performances in their second meet of the season Saturday at the UCSB Invitational.

The throws squad led the way with three marks that rank among the program's all-time top-10.
Julian Sotelo unleashed a personal-record 198-04 in the javelin to claim runner-up honors and rank sixth in school history.

Quincy Stokes also saw a 14-foot improvement in the hammer with a toss of 181-10. He finished third overall and now sits at No. 7 among the Anteaters' all-time leaders.

Justin Willingham picked up an individual victory in the shot put with UCI's ninth-best mark at 55-05. Stokes added a season-best 51-09 to come in fourth.

Willingham also led a trio of 'Eaters in the discus with a third-place showing (170-06).

In the long jump,
Elijah Yoshinaga finished ahead of the pack with a season-best 23-01.75. Decathlete
Max Daniels added a personal-record 5-11.25 in the high jump.

On the track,
Malcolm Overbaugh won the 400m with a time of 48.42 seconds in his season debut.
Eric Parker (48.59) was right on his heels in second and
Jake Preston (49.27) took third.

Maxwell Jefferson established a collegiate lifetime-best 14.74 for a second-place performance in the 110m hurdles.
Brandon Burns also clocked in at 22.21 seconds to finish second out of 15 in the 200m.

Cameron Smith was the runner-up in the steeplechase at 9:16.05.
Jacob Bustamante (14:34.53) and
Zeid Hussain (14:39.91) added second and third-place finishes in the 5000m.
