IRVINE, Calif. -- UC Irvine's high level of academic success was showcased by the NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) report released on Wednesday.
The GSR data for the 2013-14 to 2016-17 freshman cohorts shows Anteater student-athletes graduated at an 87 percent rate.
It is the 10th-straight year the Anteaters combined for an overall GSR score at or above 85.
The Anteaters were led by men's golf, men's tennis, men's water polo, women's cross country/track & field, and women's volleyball as all five programs posted a perfect GSR score of 100. Women's soccer (91) and women's golf (90) were also above the 90% benchmark.
The Graduation Success Rate was developed by the NCAA to more accurately portray a student-athlete's academic success. The NCAA calculates the rates based upon the number of student-athletes who graduated within six years after initially enrolling as well as student-athletes who entered mid-year and those who transferred from two-year or four-year colleges. In the GSR, institutions are not penalized for students who transfer while in good academic standing.
