IRVINE, Calif. -- UC Irvine women's water polo alum 
Tara Prentice played a part in Team USA's 20-11 victory over Canada in the gold medal game of the Pan-American Games to punch their to the 2024 Paris Olympic games.
Team USA outscored their opponents in the group stage, 89-3 with two consecutive shutouts. In the opening game against Chile, Prentice put away four goals on five shots in 14 minutes of action. She also added a field block in the match.
 
Prentice then went on to score four more goals in the second game against Puerto Rico where she registered another field block. Rounding out group action, Prentice deposited two goals in the 25-3 victory over Brazil.
 
The attacker did not score for the remainder of the Pan-American Games but recorded a shot and a steal in the finale for Team USA.
 
Up next, Team USA will play two games against Spain in Florida to prepare for the Olympic games.
