Four Anteaters Net Wins On Day Two Of CSUN Invite

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – UC Irvine bounced back after their morning double competition to record four wins against UTEP in singles play.

Kayla Meraz and Asha Gidwani found success at No. 2 doubles, defeating their opposition from Youngstown State, 6-4, and were the first duo to complete their match. At No. 3, Haily Huynh and Cyndey Yamamoto battled back from a 5-2 deficit in the second set to tie it and eventually force extra points. In the point deciding match, UCI kept it close, but ultimately fell 7-4.
 
Meraz and Larissa Teramura saw success again today in their respective matches, taking their wins in straight sets. Yamamoto downed her opponent at the No. 7 spot, 6-3 twice.
 
Sophomore Nour Khayat was the fourth Anteater to record a singles victory and had to do so in three sets. Khayat tallied a 6-4 win in set one before trailing 6-3 in the second. The sophomore reigned it in at No. 5 for the 6-4 set three victory.
