·Â
Emilie Castagna highlights the Anteaters this week as she picked up her first Big West award, Big West Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore was Big West All-Freshman Team in 2022, and is UCI's second award winner this year after a goal and assist in Thursday's 2-2 draw.

· Creighton was joined by

· UC Irvine began October with a victory, UCI's first road win of 2023. They continue with a stretch of eight consecutive matches without an open date including four of seven at home. UCI's next home match, October 8, they will honor their seniors following the game
Thursday at the Titans
· Cal State Fullerton and the 'Eaters play for the first time since UCI downed them in overtime to open the 2022 Big West Championship, also at Titan Stadium. The 2023 have had a tough go finding wins with a 3-4-7 record. They starting the season off 0-3-3 before big wins over USD and Cal. They've since put up four 1-1 ties along with a loss at UCR and win at Cal Poly giving them six Big West points, and are unbeaten at home (1-0-6)

Second-year keeper Mia Ranson is back with 65 saves and a 0.793 save percentage to date
Sunday vs. the Mustangs
· Cal Poly is battle-tested despite their 4-5-2 record. They nearly stole a result at UCLA, have wins at LMU and UCSB, and drew 1-1 with No. 8 Santa Clara. Like the 'Eaters, they've only played three matches in conference winning twice while stumbling at home to Fullerton.
· The Mustangs were Big West champs last year but were tripped up in the tournament, and shared the 2021 title with UCI. The team was projected to finish second in the preseason and pose one of the biggest challenges to UCI's title hopes. The defense has a lot to do with that allowing just 45 shots on goal. The disciplined Mustangs do not commit many fouls and have only six cautions. Annika Smith is coming off a hat trick with Jessie Halladay (3 G, 3 A) a threat
