Hiroki Sakagawa saw his run at the SoCal Intercollegiate Championships come to an end in the semifinals Saturday at USC's Marks Stadium.

Sakagawa started the day with an impressive three-set victory against the host Trojans' Samuel Rubell in the quarterfinals. After dropping the first set, Sakagawa stormed back for the 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 win.

Sakagawa advanced to the semifinals later in the afternoon where he was pitted against another USC foe in Lodweijk Weststrate. Similar to his first match, Sakagawa fell in the opener, 6-1. He then lost the first game of the second set before taking control to force a decisive third frame with a 6-1 triumph, but Weststrate was able to hold on for the 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 semifinal win.

Sakagawa finished the tournament with a 3-1 record.
