
UC Irvine Closes out Action at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team wrapped up its time at the ITA All-American Championships Monday at the University of Tulsa and LaFortune Park.
Enrique Luque Rico was the lone Anteater in action in the qualifying singles Round of 128. Luque Rico got out to a strong start, winning the first set against Baylor's Luc Koenig, 6-4. The two continued a tight battle in the second frame with Koenig pulling out the 7-5 victory. It was Luque Rico's first set loss of the tournament.
Koenig kept the momentum on his side as he then closed out the 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 comeback win.
Luque Rico finished his first tournament of the fall season with a 4-1 record, defeating opponents from Indiana, Oklahoma, Georgia Southern and Vanderbilt.
Up next on the schedule for the 'Eaters is the UC Santa Barbara Fall Classic, Oct. 6-8.
