UC Irvine Travels to Malibu for ITA Southwest Regional Championships

IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team will travel to Malibu for the 2023 ITA Southwest Regional Championships, Oct. 19-23.
The tournament, which will feature 13 ranked singles players, brings the region's top competition together at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. The singles and doubles champions, along with the singles runner-up, will qualify for the ITA Fall National Championships in San Diego, Nov. 1-5.
Nine Anteaters are set to compete in the singles draw. Leading the way is Enrique Luque Rico, who went 4-1 at the ITA All-American Championships. Noah Zamora was also 2-1 at the ITA All-American Championships, while Rithvik Krishna has picked up three wins through UCI's first two tournaments.
The 'Eaters will field four doubles teams this week, led by Brandon Park and Noah Zamora, who were 12-4 and earned first-team All-Big West honors as a duo in 2022-23. Ali Amiri and Enrique Luque Rico are also slated to reunite after playing alongside each other in three dual matches last season, while UC Irvine will debut two new pairs in Rithvik Krishna/Andy Nguyen and Matthew Sah/Hiroki Sakagawa.
Last year at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, Luque Rico and Zamora made it to the Round of 32 in singles and doubles.
