SUNNYVALE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's cross country team finished seventh at the Bronco Invitational Saturday morning at Baylands Regional Park.

Lukas Amare was the Anteaters' No. 1 runner as he covered the 8K course in 24:15.2 to place 28th out of 150 competitors who completed the race. Junior
Zeid Hussain wasn't far behind, clocking a season-best 24:20.9 to come in 33rd.

Cameron Smith (47th) was next across the line in 24:35.0, while classmates
Juan Sanchez (24:47.6) and
Jacob Bustamante (24:54.6) were 61st and 69th, respectively. Sanchez's time was an 8K personal record and Bustamante's was a season best.

Freshman
Jimmy Markowicz added a lifetime-best 25:10.6. Junior
Joshua Schuld followed in 25:17.4 to round out UCI's top-seven.

Juniors
AJ Sager (25:33.7) and
Henry McClish (25:49.1) also completed the 8K Invitational race with Sager registering a personal best.

Cal Poly claimed the team title, while the Mustangs' Davis Bove was the individual champion at 23:14.4.

UC Irvine will be back in action next Friday, Oct. 20, at Cal State Fullerton's John Elders Titan Invite.
