UC Irvine Wraps up Final Day of Steve Scott Invite

IRVINE, Calif. -
The UC Irvine women's track & field team wrapped up action at the Steve Scott Invitational Saturday at Anteater Stadium.
 
On the track, Amari Fraser, Mia Marquez, Zani Meaders and Emma McCarthy led the way with a six-second victory in the 4x400. The quartet combined for a winning time and season-best of 3:47.12.
 
Meaders also clocked a season-best 55.23 to claim runner-up honors in the 400m. Marquez wasn't far behind in fourth as she came in just three-hundredths of a second off her personal best at 56.78.
 
In the 800m, McCarthy was fourth overall, but the top collegiate finisher with a time of 2:10.41. Anna Vogtmann was also sixth in her first collegiate 800m (2:13.55). Alexis Alexander (2:14.58) and Cathy Salazar-Gasca (2:16.78) contributed top-20 showings with Salazar-Gasca notching a season best.
 
Four Anteaters registered a 1500m personal record with Claire Livengood leading the way at 4:37.42. She was fifth in a field of 84 athletes. Olivia Liuson, who won her heat, took seventh at 4:38.54, while Montgomery Allison (4:39.46) and Hana Nip (4:40.21) ran lifetime bests.
 
Reyna Johnson finished seventh overall, and second among collegiate athletes, with a time of 14.08 seconds in the 100m hurdles. Fraser was also the runner-up in the 400H (64.01).
 
Aryel Coats was UCI's top finisher in the 100m (12.31) and 200m (25.79). Shaelyn Amos (26.11) and Chaselyn Amos (26.30) added personal bests in the 200m.
 
In the field events, Deandra Tyler took third in the shot put with a toss of 45-04.5, and Kassidy Sani placed eighth in the discus at 152-07.
 
Citlali Pichardo registered a wind-aided lifetime-best 36-09.75 in the triple jump, while Phoebe Roach cleared 10-11.75 in the pole vault.
 
UC Irvine recognized its seniors - Jennifer Daly, Sara Griffith, Emma McCarthy, Zani Meaders, Citlali Pichardo and Kayla Rodriguez - in their final home meet.
 
The Big West Championships are up next for the Anteaters with the main events taking place in Davis, California, May 13-14.
