'Eaters Net Three Event Wins, Multiple PRs at Vince O'Boyle Classic

IRVINE, Calif. -
The UC Irvine women's track & field team closed out the inaugural Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic with three event wins and a handful of personal records Saturday at Anteater Stadium.
 
Deandra Tyler got the day started with her third shot put title of the season. She had her best marks on her first and final attempts of the meet. Tyler took the lead in the opening round (44-06.75), before seeing a slight improvement on her sixth throw that measured 44-09.5 to put her ahead of the field by over two feet. Cassious Fiaui also scored with a sixth-place finish (39-07.75).
 
Reyna Johnson remained unbeaten in the long jump, earning her third-straight victory with a leap of 18-07.75, while Lorraine Nance claimed runner-up honors with a personal-record 18-02.25. Nance added a second-place showing in the triple jump at 37-00.25, and Citlali Pichardo notched a season-best 34-09 to come in seventh.
 
Olivia Liuson was victorious in her 5000-meter debut, crossing the finish line in 17:46.72. Claire Livengood also took second in a lifetime-best 17:50.28, and McKenna Paulson was eighth (18:35.67).
 
In the steeplechase, Laura Yontz was the runner-up as she clocked in at 11:58.44, which was an 11-second PR. Mia Marquez was also second in the 400m with season-best 57.51.
 
Amari Fraser had a pair of top-five finishes in the hurdles, coming in third in the 400H (68.21) and fourth in the 100H (14.83). Heptathletes Chaselyn Amos (17.66) and Shaelyn Amos (18.63) added season bests in the 100H.
 
Anna Vogtmann led five Anteaters in the 1500m where she was third with a time of 4:36.31. Emma McCarthy (4:41.46) and Montgomery Allison (4:42.50) both established personal records, placing fifth and sixth, respectively, while Sophia Zago (4:54.97) and Madison Elliott (5:11.92) contributed lifetime bests.
 
Hana Nip and Morgan Jennings both scored in the 800m. Nip registered a personal-best 2:21.76 to come in fifth, and Jennings was seventh with a season-best 2:24.88.
 
Aryel Coats was UCI's top finisher in the short sprints, taking fourth in the 100m (12.25) and ninth in the 200m (25.45). Mikaela Rosario added season-bests of 12.56 (100m) and 26.07 (200m).
 
In the relays, Johnson, Zani Meaders, Marquez and Coats were one-hundredth of a second off their season best at 47.04 to claim runner-up honors. Zani Meaders, Zoi Meaders, Jennifer Daly and McCarthy also combined for a third-place performance in the 4x400 (3:54.46).
 
Phoebe Roach and Laura Sangiacomo both cleared 10-08.75 in the pole vault. It was a collegiate personal record for Roach and a season best for Sangiacomo. Kassidy Sani tacked on points in the discus, placing sixth overall with a toss of 143-05.

The Anteaters finished third in the team standings with 165 points.
 
Up next for UC Irvine is the Challenge Cup at Long Beach State on Friday, April 8.
