IRVINE, Calif. β The UC Irvine women's track & field team kicked off the inaugural Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic with the hammer and javelin Friday at Anteater Stadium.

Kassidy Sani was UCI's top finisher in both events. In the hammer throw, she registered a personal-record 159-06 on her second to last attempt to move up one spot into fifth place. Her PR ranks ninth in school history. Deandra Tyler came in sixth at 153-09, while Cassious Fiaui notched a lifetime-best 126-10.

Sani was also fifth in the javelin with a toss of 133-04, and Laura Lindquist added a top-eight showing at 125-01.

The 'Eaters return to Anteater Stadium tomorrow for the second day of the Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic. A full slate of events are set to get underway with the long jump, shot put and pole vault at 10 a.m.
