IRVINE, Calif. –
The 70th-ranked UC Irvine men's tennis team kept its win streak alive with a 4-2 victory over Weber State Tuesday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The 'Eaters, who were playing without Riccardo Roberto, improved to 7-4 overall with their sixth-straight win. They are also now 4-1 at home this year.

UCI prevailed in a hard-fought doubles point. Matthew Sah and Lawee Sherif remained perfect as a tandem in their debut at No. 2 as they defeated Sebastian Buxman/Jordan Coutinho, 7-5. Ali Amiri and Mike Mkrtchian then outlasted Bo-Han Li/Chia-Chieh Lin, 7-6 (5), for the early lead. It was Mkrtchian's first doubles appearance in dual-match play.

UCI kept the momentum in singles, going up 3-0 before Weber State (4-10) got on the board. Sah was the first off the court after taking down Matteo Savio, 6-0, 7-6 (3) at the fifth position. Sah was down 5-4 in the second set before rallying for the win.

Amiri also picked up a straight-set victory, dispatching Coutinho, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 6. The Wildcats then pulled within one after winning at Nos. 3 and 4, but Noah Zamora put an end to their comeback bid as he outlasted Tristan Sarap, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-4, on court two.

UC Irvine is back in action on Friday, March 11, when it hosts Boston University at 2 p.m.
