UC Irvine begins its 2022-23 season Monday, Nov. 7 versus Chapman at 7 p.m. PT. The Anteaters will then travel to No. 21/21 Oregon for their first road contest on Friday Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. PT.

HISTORY IN SEASON OPENERS
UC Irvine is 26-31 (0.456) in season openers, holding a 22-6 record (0.785) at home. The Anteaters have not played a season opener at home since the 2018-19 season where they defeated Idaho, 86-68.
 
UCI has only faced off against Chapman one time in a season opener, hosting the Panthers for the first contest of the 2014-15 slate. The 'Eaters defeated Chapman by the largest margin of victory (51).
 
EXTRA FRAME IN EXHIBITION
In the unofficial start to the 2022-23 season, UC Irvine scored four points in the final 50 seconds, netting the game at 69 all to force an overtime period.
 
After winning the tip-off in the extra minutes, UCI scored on the first possession and held a seven point advantage five times.
 
TRANSFERS OF TALENT
Transfers Devin Tillis, Pierre Crockrell II, and Chazz Hutchison made their first appearance as Anteaters in Thursday's exhibition.
 
Tillis, making his return to the court, tallied 11 points on 4-8 shooting with two three's, five rebounds, and two assists.
 
Crockrell II, a proven assist leader, tied the team lead with four assists in the contest.
 
Off the bench, Hutchison put up six points on 2-3 shooting, going 2-2 at the free throw line, and grabbed four rebounds.
 
PRODUCTIVITY AT THE FREE THROW LINE
In six trips to the charity stripe, DJ Davis went a perfect 12-12 in free throw shooting on Thursday. Davis led the team with 28 points in the exhibition contest.
 
DJ was named to the top 25 by CBB Analytics in clutch free throws, not missing one in a minimum of 10 attempts last season.
 
THURSDAY'S TEAM LEADERS
Center Bent Leuchten put up 14 points for the 'Eaters on 6-9 shooting. The German native led the team with 10 rebounds while adding two blocks and an assist.
 
Redshirt junior Justin Hohn came off the bench to contribute four assists in the contest. The guard recorded eight points on 3-7 shooting with one three-pointer.
