UCI Entangles With The WCC, Hosts LMU Before Heading To Pepperdine

UC Irvine will continue their non-conference schedule with another home and road contest. The Anteaters will first face LMU at home on Tuesday Nov. 15 for a 7 p.m. tip before traveling in state to Pepperdine on Saturday Nov. 19 with a 5 p.m. start. 

WCC ENTANGLEMENT
UC Irvine is set to play Loyola Marymount University at home before heading to Malibu to play another WCC opponent, Pepperdine. The Anteaters will face off with a least one more WCC team (Santa Clara) this non-conference slate, with the potential to face one more in Las Vegas.
 
SETTLED THE SCORE
After a heartbreaking loss to Oregon in the second round of the NCAA March Madness tournament in 2019, UC Irvine came back with a vengeance to defeat the then nationally ranked Ducks on their home court by the largest margin of victory for the Anteaters (13 points).
 
FIRST REGULAR SEASON RANKED WIN FOR COACH
Head Coach Russell Turner earned his first regular season ranked win over the then No. 21/21 Oregon on Friday night, the second of his career. Turner's first ranked win came against Kansas State in the first round of the 2019 NCAA March Madness tournament.
 
3J DAVIS
DJ Davis put up a career performance to lead the 'Eaters to a 69-56 win over then No. 21/21 Oregon. Not only did he tie his career high in points (24), he set new heights in field goals made (8), field goals attempted (17), three-point field goals made (6), and three-point field goals attempted (14). Davis is a national leader in three-point field goals made (35th) and three-point field goals per game (15th).
 
IT ONLY TAKES ONE
UC Irvine received four votes in the weeks Associated Press (AP) Top 25 poll. The Anteaters 69-56 win knocked the Ducks out of the rankings to give UCI some national nods.
 
NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK
Reporter Andy Katz and NCAA March Madness named UC Irvine the Team of the Week for the first weekly award of the season following their efforts in the two win Anteater week.
 
DAVIS EARNS BIG WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DJ Davis continues to earn recognition for his efforts over the first two games to push UCI to 2-0.
