
'Eaters Finish 14th at NCAA West Regional Championships

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - The UC Irvine women's cross country team finished 14th at the NCAA West Regional Championships Friday morning at Chambers Creek Regional Park.
The Anteaters improved their position in the standings by two spots from a year ago with their best regional showing since 2008, when they were also 14th.
Three 'Eaters placed among the top-75, led by fifth-year senior Hannah Chau, who completed the 6K course in 20:05.5. She was just four seconds off her personal best which she established two weeks ago at The Big West Championships. Chau was 43rd overall.
Sophomore Anna Vogtmann also came in 59th at 20:25.1, while classmate Sameen Andar wasn't far behind, clocking in at 20:27.3 (63rd).
Graduate student Evelin Meza was UCI's fourth runner in 98th with a time of 20:55.7. Rounding out UC Irvine's lineup were sophomore Malia Gay (21:21.2), junior McKenna Paulson (21:30.4) and sophomore Maggie Sczupak (21:32.8). Both Gay and Paulson's times were 6K personal records.
