
UC Irvine Completed The Home Victory Over Westcliff

IRVINE, Calif. – No. 11 UC Irvine men's water polo (13-10) was able to complete the home win over Westcliff (17-15) in the resumption of the suspended contest from October 15th.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>UC Irvine outshot Westcliff, 34-27
>15 Anteaters had shot attempts
>Jacob Pyle earned the start in goal, making six saves with one assist and one steal
>Zayd Mahmoud relieved Pyle, earning one save and an assist
>Garrett Selby made an appearance in the final 3:23 minutes of game to record two saves and an assist
>Stewart Campbell led all players in goals, notching the hat-trick within the first period of play (4-5)
>Five Anteaters recorded two goals—Tyler Padua (2-2), Ethan Shipman (2-2, three assists), Dylan Patist (2-3, one assist and one steal), Luka Krstic (2-4, one assist), and Zlatan Nikocevic (2-3, two assists)
>Thomas Cass, Samuel Otta, Jack Stevens, and Archer Sauer all chipped in with one goal apiece
>Westcliff was led by Mateja Bosic, recording three goals on 11 shots, two assists, and one steal
FIRST PERIOD
>Stewart Campbell (7:21) was able to convert on the one man advantage with help from Jake Liechty, 1-0
>Westcliff fired a shot at 5:42 to knot the game, 1-1
>The duo of Campbell (5:13) and Liechty tagged up again for another Anteater goal, 2-1
>The Warriors (4:55) were able to score on the next possession, 2-2
>Campbell (3:34) completed the hat-trick within four and a half minutes to give UCI the advantage, 3-2
>Thomas Cass (3:15) was able to add a tally for the Anteaters in the next possession off a pass from Zachary Baxter, 4-2
>With 11 seconds left in the period, Luka Krstic scored off an assist from Jacob Pyle, 5-2
SECOND PERIOD
>Tyler Padua (6:11) netted a goal with the help of Krstic on the counter attack, 6-2
>A UCI turnover led to the next scoring play for Westcliff (5:19), 6-3
>Shipman set up Zlatan Nikocevic (4:39) to put one up on the board, 7-3
>The Warriors scored three unanswered (4:10, 2:12, 0:39) headed into the second half, 7-6
THIRD PERIOD
>Campbell (7:28) recorded his fourth goal of the game off the hands of Dylan Patist, 8-6
>Patist (6:09) capitilzed on the counter attack with help from Zayd Mahmoud, 9-6
>Jackson Matos earned the assist when Shipman (4:30) dented the twine, 10-6
>Westcliff ended their scoring drought at the 4:09 mark, 10-7
>Jack Stevens put one on the board on the next possession on the cross pool pass from Liechty, 11-7
>The Warriors responded back to the UCI goal with one of their own at 3:24, 11-8
>On the power play, Shipman (0:43) netted his second goal of the game, 12-8
FOURTH PERIOD
>On UCI's first possession, Padua (7:41) tallied his second goal of the game, 13-8
>Nikocevic passed the ball to Patist (6:58) who deposited a shot into the goal, 14-8
>An Anteater exclusion led to a Westcliff goal at 6:26 in the power play period, 14-9
>The duo of Shipman and Nikocevic (5:59) teamed up on the following possession for another UCI goal, 15-9
>With the one man advantage, Shipman set up a goal for Krstic (4:28), 16-9
>Westcliff netted their final goal of the game at 3:23 at even strength, 16-10
>UCI scored two unanswered (2:34, 0:01) to close out the contest, 18-10
