SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Sophomore
Anna Vogtmann broke a 14-year old school record to lead the UC Irvine women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish Saturday morning at the Bronco Invitational.

Vogtmann became the first Anteater to run a sub 20-minute 6K race, covering the course at Baylands Regional Park in 19:54.7. She broke the previous standard of 20:12.5 which was set by four-time All-Big West performer Laura Olvera in 2008. Vogtmann finished fifth in the race.

Senior
Hannah Chau added a top-15 showing, placing 11th overall in a season-best 20:17.2. She was .3 seconds off her PR that ranks third in program history.

Graduate student
Evelin Meza also cracked UCI's all-time top-10 with a lifetime-best 20:56.2 (31st).

Sophomores
Maggie Sczupak (21:32.9) and
Malia Gay (21:45.9) both registered personal records, while junior
McKenna Paulson notched a season-best 21:44.5.

Rounding out the 'Eater lineup were
Montgomery Allison (21:46.8),
Cathy Salazar-Gasca (21:49.2),
Olivia Liuson (21:51.3) and
Tea Akiaten (21:57.5). Allison and Salazar-Gasca set PRs, while Akiaten ran her first 6K race.

UC Irvine will be back in action next Friday, Oct. 21, at the Titan Invitational in its final tune-up before the Big West Championships (Oct. 29).
