DAVIS, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's tennis began its dual match season with a Big West match out of the gate in a 6-1 loss at UC Davis and Marya Welch Tennis Center on Saturday.
Doubles began the day with all three matches going to the Aggies (1-1, 1-0). Nos. 1 and 2 doubles each went to a 7-5 decision, but the early point was secured by UCD.
The Aggies continued to rack up points winning the first four singles points in straight sets.
Alyssia Fossorier locked up UCI's (0-1, 0-1) lone point on the day with a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles.
Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico in her Division I dual match debut fell in a third-set tiebreak to end the match.

Once again, the support our team displayed carried me to my win. I believe this was a great start for our team to grow and get ready for our upcoming matches!"
Jenna Schlatter - "Despite things not going our way today, I was proud about the way we competed. We had some really close matches and just ended up short.
