UCI Wraps up Action at UNM Team Open

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -
The UC Irvine women's indoor track & field team competed in the UNM Team Open Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
 
Deandra Tyler led the way in the throws, establishing a season-best 42-00.75 in the shot put. She finished 14th in a field of 36 and jumped to fourth in program history. Tyler (45-05.75) and Kassidy Sani (40-10.25) also had solid outings in the weight throw.
 
On the track, Reyna Johnson finished seventh in the 60m hurdle final after qualifying with a season-best 8.78 in the prelims. She was also the Anteaters' top performer in the long jump where she placed 12th overall at 18-02.25. Her mark puts her at No. 6 on UCI's all-time charts.
 
Aryel Coats established season-bests in both the 60m (7.77) and 200m (25.18). Coats had a top-20 showing in the 200m and moved up two spots to fifth in school history.
 
Ashley Tabag (26.70) and Mikaela Rosario (26.71) added season bests in the 200m.
 
Zani Meaders came in seventh out of 32 competitors in the 400m with a time of 58.28.
 
For the second week in a row, Emma McCarthy paced UCI's 800m runners with a season-best 2:19.15.  
 
McKenna Paulson ran her first 3000m of the year, crossing the finish line in 10:50.25. Her altitude-adjusted time of 10:34.24 cracked UC Irvine's all-time top-10. Montgomery Allison also made her indoor collegiate debut in the mile (5:23.71).
 
Coats, Meaders, McCarthy and Alexis Alexander came in 10th in the 4x400 relay.
 
In her indoor pole vault debut, Laura Sangiacomo cleared 10-01.25 to rank sixth in program history.
 
UC Irvine will return to the Albuquerque Convention Center in two weeks for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, Feb. 11-12.
