Sah Leads Anteaters on Final Day in San Diego

SAN DIEGO - The UC Irvine men's tennis team wrapped up action Sunday at the University of San Diego's Hagedorn Hidden Dual.
 
On the final day of the season-opening tournament, the Anteaters took on the host Toreros in singles and Kennesaw State in doubles.
 
Matthew Sah led the way once again as he dispatched Nikhil Niranjan, 6-2, 6-4. Sah improved to 3-0 in singles. Mike Mkrtchian also played a tough match, winning the first set 7-6, but was unable to finish off Sacchitt Sharrma, dropping the next two, 6-3 and 6-2.
 
Sah also teamed up with Thomas Smart to upend the Owls' Harvey Conway/Raul Garcia, 6-3.

In Tulsa, Oklahoma, Riccardo Roberto fell in the pre-qualifying singles Round of 64 at the ITA All-American Championships. Roberto dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Max McKennon of Arizona State.
 
Roberto and No. 63 Emmanuel Coste will be back in action tomorrow at the ITA All-American Championships. Coste is set to open qualifying singles play, while he and Roberto, who are the 53rd ranked duo in the country, also start the doubles qualifying draw.
