Tournament Draws

MALIBU, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team wrapped up action on Day 2 of the ITA Southwest Regionals Saturday at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
 
In the singles main draw, graduate students Riccardo Roberto and Emmanuel Coste both fell in three sets in the Round of 32. Roberto won the opener against UCLA's Alexander Hoogmartens, but was unable to keep the momentum in a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 loss. Coste also dropped a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 decision to Enrique Luque Rico of host Pepperdine.
 
Over in the consolation bracket, junior Matthew Sah posted a 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 comeback victory against Alex Scemanenco (San Diego State) in the Round of 64. Freshman Rithvik Krishna also put up a fight but fell just short against UC Santa Barbara's Stefano Tsorotiotis, 6-0, 6-7 (8), 10-8.
 
In doubles, both Coste/Roberto and Sah/Smart squared off against Pac-12 opponents in the Round of 16. Coste and Roberto lost to USC's Paul Barretto/Ryder Jackson, 8-2, while Sah and Smart fell to the fifth-seeded pairing of Drew Baird/Hoogmartens (UCLA), 8-3.
