Cami Privett Takes Home NWSL Crown

| By:
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah --- Over the weekend, the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) finished up their 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup crowning the Houston Dash and Anteater soccer alum Cami Privett as champions.

The NWSL Challenge Cup was announced in late May as a stand-in, one-off tournament in 2020 following the cancelation of the 2020 NWSL Regular Season. Eight of the nine NWSL teams descended on Satl Lake City, Utah and the home of Utah Royals FC for a 25-game tournament spanning two months.

Cami Privett, Anteater women's soccer alum from 2011-14, is 1 of 2 Big West Conference alums currently in the league in what is now her third stint with the Houston Dash. After grinding through a tryout in 2015, returning for a 31 matches in 2016-17, and stops in Norway and Spain in between, Privett returned to the squad in 2019 playing a handful of matches. She got the call in 2020 to join the roster for the NWSL Challenge Cup and saw action in a match against Sky Blue FC.

Privett completes her sixth year in professional soccer, fifth season as part of the Dash, now with 61 career caps primarily as a defender with four goals in total.

The Dash finished fourth in the preliminary round before their run of three straight shutouts in the knockout stage defeating Utah Royals FC, Portland Thorns FC, and Chicago Red Stars to hoist their first NWSL title in their first NWSL playoff berth since forming in 2014. The league was the first professional organization to return to play following the lockdowns due to COVID-19. The NWSL will work to get back to a season format likely in 2021 with no details of yet.
