IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine student-athletes had a successful winter quarter in the classroom led by women's golf and men's cross country, who had the Anteaters' highest team grade point averages.
The women's golf team can boast of five team members maintaining a 3.70 GPA overall and two with a 4.0 in the winter quarter.
"I'm so proud of this incredible team. They understand the rigors of being a student-athlete at UC Irvine," head coach Julie Brooks said. "It's not easy, but they make it a priority and rise to the challenge. They are dedicated to not only train and compete, but to be prepared and mentally tough in the classroom. We play tournaments in all three quarters and continually strive for excellence in the classroom and on the golf course!"
The men's cross country team had three student-athletes with at least a 3.6 GPA, including two posting a perfect 4.0 last quarter.
"We are very proud of our men's cross country team's academic performance this past quarter," distance coach Casey Kear said. "They have proven to consistently be among the highest team GPA's on campus here at UC Irvine and that is something we take great pride in."
Overall, 130 Anteater student-athletes owned a 3.5 or better winter quarter GPA with 24 students achieving a 4.0.
